Don't Quote Me

Indulge me. I have all of these little slips of paper in a pile on which I jot down funny things CT says. I'm going to transfer some of them to this post. I don't know if they will seem funny now, but if you try to picture his little voice and face, it might be more like it. Here goes:

11/5/07 (1 year ago):
CT was outside in the yard.
CT: Mom, can you come outside and help me with my work?
Me: What are you doing?
CT: I'm digging a hole out here.
Me: I don't know if Dad wants you to dig a big hole in the grass.
CT: But that's what boys do!

12/13/07:
On a Very Foggy Day
CT: Mom, do we have a big fan? We need to get it out and blow all of these clouds away.

12/15/07:
I ran into Braum's (our favorite ice cream shop) while the family waited in the car. I came out and said to Tyler "They have Cherry Limeades coming out of their ears in there", because that's Tyler's favorite thing and sometimes they don't have it. A minute later as we were driving down the road I hear CT say to Lil:
"Lily, did you know Mom saw people with cherry limeades coming out of their ears in there?"

2 months ago:
Tyler was sanding some furniture in the garage with his electric sander. CT wanted to watch so Tyler gave him a speech about not getting his hands too close. Lily then came out to the garage and CT said:
"You can't touch your hands on there Lil. It's a curious business, right?"

Obviously I need to do better at writing down Lily's quotes because I can't think of any of hers to write down. She's funny though, trust me. What little child do you know that isn't?

A Really Big Show

CT and Lily are really into putting on "shows" for us now. I recorded a few minutes of one they did last week just as I was cleaning up dinner. It's a little dark, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

Access Denied

So, you can't see the detail in these pictures very well. What this is, is a sign that CT made. It is a circle with a line through it. He hung it on the door of our guest room. This is the room where I am keeping all of the Christmas presents. He put it up there and then told me, "Mom, you know what this is? It's a circle with a line. That means No Children Allowed."

A fine idea. I was very pleased he came up with it himself.

Amelia's Birthday

Amelia turned one on Nov. 20th. She was a bit grumpy all day, so it wasn't as fun for her as we had hoped. Tyler had the day off, which made it nice.

She wasn't so interested in opening the presents - not that she had much of a chance. Her two "helpers" took care of the unwrapping for her in record time.

We had a special birthday lunch at home, using the same first birthday decorations that Mom bought for CT almost 4 years ago!

I made her an individual little number one birthday cake that she could eat all by herself...she didn't think that was as neat as Lily did when she turned one. She didn't eat much of it at all, but eventually enjoyed smashing it up a bit.

We went to Cabela's - a huge outdoorman's store - and saw all the displays of taxidermied beasts, and saw all the very large fish in the aquarium, fed trout in the faux trout stream, pretended to play the rifle shooting game and of course got a sample of their fudge.

After a short stop at Wal-Mart (what day would be compete without it?) we went to Pizza Hut for dinner, which was the highlight of the day for Amelia I think. She grabbed every breadstick within reach, from everyone in the family, and thought she was big trying to dip it in the sauce and eat it up. Overall, it was a fun day. We are so happy to have Amelia in our family and can't believe it has already been one whole year! A side note: this is the first time we've ever had a child turn one without another child being on the way. Another first to celebrate on this day!

Halloween, Etc.

Pumpkin Patch Fun

The Halloween jumpers I made for the girls.

Our Family as characters from Peter Pan (we had two Tinkerbells).

The special Halloween dinner I made. Monster fingers, mashed potato ghosts, and spider web peanut butter rice krispi treats.

Evening Fun

We've started a new routine of going out to play on the swing set after dinner. The weather is getting to be so lovely in the evenings, and it is great to get to enjoy being outside for once. I love this picture. Those faces are too cute!

Millsie Walking

I don't know how to get this picture to turn around. Sorry about that!

A Morning at Home

Just your average morning...I was trying to get CT to show off his remote control construction vehicle, but he wouldn't cooperate.

Like Mother Like Daughter

I remember Mom saying that I used to play with a potted plant in our home when I was a baby and she had to vacuum multiple times a day because of it. I guess that saying is true...what goes around comes around...Amelia does this at least twice a day. I'm surprised there is any moss left in those pots.

Rainy Day

Here's a little something to whet your appetite for your visit, Mom. Sorry you can't join us Dad, but I understand that Jeff needs your help!

Pool Fun

This is the backyard pool I bought this year. Some weeks we use it almost everyday. Several times a day. They like it.

Interview with CT

Here is a little interview I did with CT on Father's Day all about what he did with Grandpa on our recent visit. I wanted to share it with Dad for Father's Day, but it was too big to e-mail, and I just thought of this route. Pretty cute!
